• Lauren has been involved with Second Chance SPCA for a little over 10 years now. She moved to Plano in 2012 and searched “animal rescues near me” Second Chance SPCA popped up, and the rest is history. Not only has she been volunteering with us for almost a decade, she also spent 4 of those years as our very own Director of Volunteers. Although she has moved back home to Louisiana, she is still an advisory director on our board. She is currently traveling around the US as a traveling Registered Dietitian. She does not have any kids of her own but has four nieces that she loves to spoil! She has 4 fur children, and 3 of those are from Second Chance. First is Libby Lou (dachshund), Lucy May (terrier, adopted from SC in 2014), Gordon Russell (orange tabby, adopted from SC in 2017, and Gibson Russell (senior chihuahua, adopted from SC in 2019). Even though she travels for work, she always finds a rescue nearby where she can volunteer!

Lauren, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to not only the animals here at Second Chance but also to the cats and dogs you’ve helped in your travels.

We truly could not run our shelter without our amazing and compassionate volunteers!
