Lydia Mann is not only a multi award author, but an animal lover. She is no stranger to SCSPCA either, as she adopted two kitties from our shelter! See her story below:
“In August 2013, my retired parents saw a sweet little terrier mix pup in the newspaper who was up for adoption at Second Chance SPCA. While I was at work, they snuck off without me to go see him. LOL! They decided he was an active pup who really needed a family with children to play with. (We heard later he was adopted by a family with two little boys. Perfect fit!)
During my parents’ visit, they just happened to spy two sweet kittens, one of which was a lavender point Siamese. Of course, they just had to stop for a cuddle! (My family has a soft spot for Siamese cats.) The rest is history. Pei Wei (who is now Cleopatra) and Athena (who is now Vashti) did not take long to become part of our family.”Cleopatra and Vashti as little kittens “Both of the kittens came down with respiratory infections before they could be adopted by us. Second Chance took such good care of them, and would not release them for adoption until the kittens were completely well. So, we just went by every day to check on them until we could bring them home!
The dedication of the staff and volunteers at Second Chance SPCA is outstanding. They go the extra mile to give each animal the best of care and get them ready for adoption. We are forever grateful for this wonderful organization for giving our two sweet kitties a second chance.“Cleopatra & Vashti all grown up
